Rod Barajas and Henry Blanco both gave New York Mets fans something they wanted to see Friday and Saturday. Walk off home runs, one which came in the bottom of the ninth by Barajas after a blown lead by Francisco Rodriguez  and the other came by Blanco in the bottom of the ninth after The San Francisco Giants came back from an 0-4 deficit in the 7th inning against Johan Santana.

Sunday though there would be late inning heroic’s but not by The Mets. After being down 4-0 The Mets rallied up 2 runs 6th and then 3 runs in the 7th to take a lead, rookie pitcher Jenrry Mejia gave up a two run shot to ex-Philadelphia Philly Aaron Rowand in the top of the 8th which would give the Giants a 6-5 lead they would never give up as Brian Wilson came into the ninth and closed it out.

A questionable call was made in the ninth as Jason Bay had gotten to second base with no outs David Wright stepped into his at-bat. At that point he was 0-3 with 3 K’s. Some questioned with his numbers being so poor that day why not tell Wright to bunt and get Bay over to third with only 1 out. Well the answer could come in various ways but for The Mets and manager Jerry Manuel it came as take a swing Wright and he would strikeout for the 4th time in the game.

Mets are now 17-14 this year, second in the Nation League East Division to the Philadelphia Phillies. They now take on the Washington Nationals in a three game series that starts tonight. Nationals won the first series 2-1.
