On Air: The Official Blog of WSJU Sports

A day after Oliver Perez went 3 1/3 innings, allowing 4 runs and 7 walks and totaled 99 pitches only 44 of which went for strikes was given a vote of confidence and a reassurance by New York Mets manager Jerry Manuel that Perez would remain in the rotation and will face The Florida Marlins later on this week.

Perez has been a sight for sore eyes for many Mets fans this season.  After a terrific outing in his second game of the season against The St. Louis Cardinals, Ollie has only got to the 6th inning once and had two 3 inning outings including Sundays against the San Francisco Giants in his past 4 games. He is 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA and 30 walks in 25 innings.

The Mets have to answer to the question, “When will Ollie be taken out?” so for the time being Perez will be in the line up but the Front office needs to take a look during All-Star break to grab a starting pitcher for this team to have any chance in making it to the Playoffs and beyond.
