On Air: The Official Blog of WSJU Sports

The monkey is off The Phoenix Suns back and it’s name is the San Antonio Spurs. The Suns handed the Spurs a quick 1,2,3,4. In a series where the Spurs were heavily favored since they have owned Phoenix since 2004, the Suns came out firing in each game.

In game one Steve Nash looked and played like the 2-time NBA MVP scoring 33 points and dropping 10 assists as the Suns won 111-102.

In game two Suns put Spurs in an 0-2 hole with a all around performance from their whole team. Six players for the Suns were in double figures. If one is to look at the box score and scroll down to field goal percentage you would have guess San Antonio had the advantage shooting 50.6% to Phoenix’s 42.4%

In game three the Suns traveled to San Antonio and what seemed to be a tight game for all three quarters were shattered when Goran Dragic came in and scored 23 of his 26 points in the fourth quarter shooting 9-11 from the field and connecting on a four point play late in the game. Suns would go on to win 110-96.

Game four saw the Spurs have 6 players in double figures and only 4 for the Suns but that was all the Suns needed as Steve Nash, 20 points and 4 stitches to the right eye, and Amar’e Stoudemire, 29 points, lead the way to a sweep of The San Antonio Spurs.

The Suns head back to Phoenix to see if they will face The Lakers or Jazz (LAL leads 3-0 over UTA) will be the next opponent to stand in their way of capturing an NBA Title.
